Ready or not, Release Day comes.
Part of me wants to panic about that. Release Day means that this thing which has existed only in my head (and the memories of close friends who read it along the way) will now be available for other people to read and have opinions about. She won’t be ‘safe’ anymore, she’ll be out in the world where people might not like her…
*trails off, noticing the parallel between the book and its protagonist.*
The other part of me says not to panic, because well it’s too late now, isn’t it?
Can’t go back, can’t chicken out after the fact - orders have already shipped, ready to arrive a day early. (*cough*TOMORROW*cough*) This is a thing that is happening. No putting THAT cat back in the bag, so I may as well accept it and do what needs doing next. That next thing may legitimately be “promotion” but as I’ve mentioned, I’m kind of terrible at that. Besides, I also need to buckle down and make sure the next two are the best they can be.
This is now the official “pre-Release Day post.”
To paraphrase Don White: I will tell you where I will be on April 17th, and you will have the whole rest of the internet to be at if you so choose.
The first two chapters of Awaken are featured in an April Instafreebie offer - along with a pile of awesome free stories and samples from other New England based Speculative Writers, so if you’ve somehow NOT gotten your sneak preview of Awaken yet, you can get it (and more) over there. (No email address required to claim my chapters, I'm not sure about the others.)
I'm still working on the details, but there are rumors of a live Q&A with me in the Writing is My Superpower Facebook group. Writers always welcome, and it's one of the more active groups I'm in. If you're a writer, come on over! (I'll see about recording it for the people who aren't in the group.)
In the non-internet world, I’m hoping to celebrate Release Day quietly with my enormously supportive family, who understand where I've come from, and how amazing this whole thing really is.
I also hope there might be sushi involved at some point.
To conclude, I will invite you (as always) to connect with me on the various social medias. I am friendly, I promise.
